Last weekend's loss to the Camden Tigers puts Balmain in the precarious position of needing to beat Roosters FC at their home ground, Mona Park, in Sunday's elimination final. Balmain can feel confident though, having beaten Roosters 4-0 at home, and drawing 0-0 away to clinch the league earlier this month. The game kicks off at 3pm so be there to cheer on Balmain in a must-win encounter. Football NSW reporter Frank Speranza previews the match here.
This Sunday, Lambert Park hosts the Football NSW Conference Major Semi-Final between Camden Tigers and your Balmain Tigers. On offer for the winner is a place in the Grand Final in two weeks' time, while the loser faces a do-or-die knockout match next week.
We urge all of our of supporters to get down there. Kick-off is at 3pm, following the reserve grade semi-final between Lilli Pilli and Gladesville.
Camden and Balmain share a long rivalry, having regularly competed in the same division over the last decade. In the last competitive fixture between the sides in July 2006, Balmain dominated Camden in a 5-0 victory. That day Lorenzo Merlino, current Balmain striker and second highest scorer in the Conference North season, was on the scoresheet. Tigers fans will be rooting for him to repeat the feat on Sunday.
