Both grades punished

Once again Birchgrove were left chasing the game after conceding early in Saturday's game against Gladesville. A poor second half saw the visitors run out convincing 4-1 victors. The reserve grade turned out for what was easily their worst performance for the season so far, and also received a 4-1 hiding. Making the result even harder to swallow was the fact that their opponents only showed up for the match with 10 players.

Away to Blacktown Association on Saturday, Birchgrove could not repeat the first round defeat of their opponents. 2-0 down after a terrible first ten minutes, Birchgrove dominated the second half but conceded twice in the final five minutes while chasing the game. The final score ended up 4-0 to the home side - a scoreline that was definitely not a reflection of a closely fought match. Meanwhile, the reserve team's lead of the competition has been cut to 2 points as they were held to a 1-1 draw.
