League title has to wait for another week

Balmain suffered their first league loss of the season on Saturday, going down 2-0 to Hawkesbury. The Tigers created the better of the chances in the first half, with Craig Andrews hitting the crossbar and Lorenzo Merlino shooting narrowly wide. A sloppy second half and an opponent desperate to stay in the hunt for 2nd spot and a shot at promotion saw Balmain outplayed, going down 2-0 in the end.

Sadly, the reserves saw their playoff hopes evaporate, conceding a very early goal from which they were unable to recover. Final score Hawkesbury 1 Balmain 0.

Both teams picked up an extra 3 points on Sunday though as the scheduled catch-up game against Penang FC was forfeited by the home team.
