Tigers come good when it matters
» Posted by Jackson on 28-Jun-09

Balmain enjoyed its proudest day of the season on Saturday night. Away to top of the table Dulwich Hill, First Grade triumphed 2-1 with a late winner to Lorenzo Merlino. Dane Maberly scored the other goal early in the first half. Earlier, the Under 20s secured victory with a 1-0 win via a Dave Hardwick strike, and now sit just one place out of the finals.
The full Football NSW match report is now online, and once again John Sowden has come up with the photographic goods from the sideline.

WTF is this! Our proudest moment on the field followed by our darkest hour off the field with a report that makes Speranza look like one of the great literary geniuses of our time!
No mention of the once great JB's fall from grace by becoming involved in what sources call an "incident" with the ground entry staff over the $5 entry fee. Even the greats of our game have been affected by the current financial climate.
No mention of the male model from Miranda’s return to first grade????
No mention of the now outlawed Alex k warm up.
New captain was outstanding old captain was even better since being stripped of any responsibility pre match.
Jem after a tough ten minute stint in res grade against Spartans was outstanding.
Dave Mac for me was the best on ground he was everywhere. With his upcoming wedding he will need to step up his performance again. X doesn’t care for romance or weddings he feels it shows weakness and he finds comfort in the arms /claws of his pet wombat Tim.
Bruno's pre match haircut was controversial but turned in a solid game.
20s GK was below par for me and this experiment for me is over.
Robbie good at right back however I am still not entirely comfortable with a man who wears a scarf.
Swoden beaten for pace but probably shaded the roid kid over the 90mins.
Lozza, Dane getting it done at the pointy end with Jezza giving Dully a crucial goal kick which later would lay the platform for Lozza's winner.
X out!
To be fair to our roving reporter Jacko he wasn't even there so he's done well to phone this one in.
Special mention must go to the assistant who finally kept his flag down for Dave and Lozza near the end after earlier thinking he was at a Kim Jong Il parade.
What a week. First of all hard luck on Wednesday night lads but on a brighter note, it looks as though Balmain Tigers SC has its first ever Cleo Bachelor of the year nominee. Now I know you're all thinking of the male model from Miranda but surprisingly and somewhat shockingly it isn't him. Apparently the Cleo Editor was viewing last weeks photo's and there were two standout photo's from none other than U/20's coach, Ivan, or Enrique Ivanov as the Cleo editor put it to me. So stay tuned Tigers fans as Ivan will soon be appearing in the next edition. On behalf of the club Enrique Ivanov we wish you all the best on your upcoming photo shoot. Rumour has it that Enrique Ivanov will be using only a football to cover his private parts.....
