Final day wins for both grades

Balmain finished the season in fine style with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lithgow on Saturday. Hassan Reda made the race for the golden boot interesting with an early penalty that brought him level on 11 goals with Dave Hardwick and Peter Stamatis. However Hardwick soon regained the scorers lead with a low volley from the edge of the area midway through the half. Jem Richardson popped up to grab the third shortly before half time and it looked like it could end up in an avalanche of goals. However Lithgow were determined to not make the long ourney home in disgrace and they tightened their defence in the second period. Peter Stamatis had a couple of late chances to snatch the golden boot from Dave Hardwick but some superb goalkeeping denied his one on one efforts.

Reserve grade also left their fans with fond memories, cruising to a 3-1 victory over the men from the mountains. First half goals to Paulo Gravina and Dave Grillvinio gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead before Lithgow pegged one back shortly before the break. Despite having the lions share of the ball and the chances in the second half, Balmain could only manage one more goal. And what do you know…

propelled heat sensor missile that swerved away
from the goal keeper and tore the back of the net.
