Late equaliser denies Tigers victory

In what was their best showing for a couple of weeks, the Tigers outplayed Colo Colo only to concede a late equaliser in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Balmain took the lead early from a corner and went in at the break with a 1-0 lead. Colo Colo snatched a lucky equaliser midway through the second half after a cross hit the post and bounced in off a Balmain defender for an own goal. Balmain hit back immediately with Peter Stamatis poking home a Dave Hardwick through ball. However the Colo Colo fans rejoiced after the equaliser and at the final whistle – an indication of how undeserved the result was for Balmain.
The Reserve team put in a poor display in the earlier game and went down 2-0 – their first loss of the season. Despite creating numerous chances, the ball would not go in the net, and they paid the penalty in the end for poor finishing against a side they should really have put away.
