Tigers hamstring Kolts

Balmain found new reserves of determination and spirit to bounce back from the previous weekend’s drubbing in their 3-1 defeat of the league leading Kellyville Kolts (Colts ??) at Birchgrove on Saturday. First half goals to Peter Stamatis and Jem Richardson gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead before Kellyville hit back with a free kick to make it 2-1 at half time. A superb end to end goal in which most of the team touched the ball was finished by Danillo Gravina to make it 3-1, much to Kellyville’s frustration. This boiled over into some ugly challenges that resulted in one wild Kolt being red carded back to his stable as well as a couple more being shown the yellow card.
The Tigers reserve team also put in an excellent performance in their 3-0 victory. The result was never in doubt after early first half goals to Andre Romario and Ian Bailey. Alex Shain’s hard work paid off in the second half when he scored a third.
Well if anything, this all just proves that a week is a long time in football. Next weekend the league has a break for Easter, so you’ll have to wait two very long weeks for the next installment of the gut wrenching roller coaster ride full of tired cliches that is Balmain Soccer Club, Season 2003. Happy Easter everyone.
