No Youth League This Season
Please not that due to our application not being sucessful this year Balmain FC will not be competeing in the Division One youth state league.This season we will be running only two teams in the State league which will be the First grade and Under 20′s.
2 Goals and Tekkers take out Finals
AT LAST the 6 aside was brought to a close last night when both Grand Finals were played at Leichhardt 3. In The Division 1 Final a under strength but gallant Formals went down to the slick classy outfit of 2 goals 1 Cup..(Don’t ask ) 3-1.
In the Division 2 Final Balmain Wanderers took on Tekkers hoping to go one better than last years tag of runners up but even with heroics from their goalkeeper could not stop the mighty Teks taking the game 2-1.
The Tuesday and Thursday night best and fairest awards went to David Tucker of 2 goals and Nick Keys of Inter letriste respectively .
A special thank you to the refs Colin, Paul and Andre and to all those that participated in this years comp. your patience under the circumstamces of the weather was greatly appreciated.Also thanks go to Jem Richardson for posting results and tables and to the tireless Alex Kaltenegger for his effort in running this comp.
So for another year the 6 aside comes to a close and for me this will be my final year as I move on to pastures new and in doing so thank all those associated with this competition over the years. I hope you have enjoyed yourself as much as I have.

The full fixture list for this season’s 6-a-side is now published. Apologies for the delay – we had a last minute change of night for one team which meant we had to redo the whole thing!

Note that the Tuesday night competition has one less team, so will start on Tuesday November 10, while the Thursday night competition will start next Thursday November 5. Both competitions will break for a few weeks over the Christmas and New Year period.
Remember that player waiver forms must be signed before playing your first game so please arrive a good 20 minutes before kick-off to get your teams organised.

Trials for 2010 squad – UPDATED
We have been forced by councils to change venue for our trials for our 2010 squad.
Trials will be held at Begnell Park, Madeline St, Belfield.
Sunday November 1, 8:30am: open trials.

6-a-Side update: we have lights!
Just a small update to say that common sense has prevailed and we have been assured of use of the floodlights at Leichhardt #3 this season, so you can ignore the previous post about playing in the dark and on separate nights.
Update: the competition start date has been put back a week to November 3 due to a few teams being late in getting their entries in. At this stage we still have 1 spot available for the Thursday night competition.

6-a-Side 2009-10 is a go!
Many apologies for the delay but we have been through quite a deal of wrangling with councils over ground and floodlight usage for this season’s competition. We have been given the go-ahead today subject to the following:
- We will be playing at Leichhardt Park #3, which we last used for the 2007 competition (adjacent to La Montage function centre).
- We may not have use of the floodlights!!
Strangely the council has ordered that no park lights be switched on at night time, and we are still “in discussion” with them about this. Should the ridiculous prevail leaving us unable to use the lights, then we will be reducing the number of games played on each Tuesday and Thursday night to daylight hours and playing the overflow on Wednesday nights. This means a small number of your matches may be scheduled to play on a Wednesday night instead of your regular Tuesday or Thursday, but you would not be required to play Tuesday and Wednesday in the same week for example.
2009 Presentation Night: October 3
Our presentation night for season 2009 will be held at the Monkey Bar on Saturday October 3 from 7pm. All players, their partners and parents are welcome, so please come along and enjoy the night.
